A short phrase can be considerate, annoyed or something else. Even if AI calls it passive aggression, a possible interpretation is not the speaker’s confirmed intention.
Read the surrounding sentences
Compare fictional messages: “You know the menu better, choose whatever you want” and “You never listen anyway, choose whatever you want.” The final phrase is similar; the stated context differs. Uploading only the last words removes information.
Establish the literal action
Did the person delegate a decision or say they wanted to stop talking? A smile or exclamation mark cannot settle the emotion. Their usual style may be context the file does not contain.
Return to a question
“Do you mean I should choose, or would you rather stop discussing it for now?” checks two possibilities. If the person explains, be willing to revise your first reading rather than defend it.
Describe the effect on you
Try “When you say that, I am unsure whether I can decide. Please tell me if you have a preference.” This is an example of requesting information, not a therapy technique or a guaranteed solution.
